PRESERVE at 2nd GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Inter-Vehicle Communication

PRESERVE Members are participating to the 2nd GI/ITG KuVS Fachgespräch Inter-Vehicle Communication (, hosted by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SNT) of the University of Luxembourg. On going research work on certificates pre-distribution and privacy expectations in VANETS are presented during this two days workshop.



December 16-18, 2013, PRESERVE partners participated to the IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC 2013) in Boston, USA. They achieved four accepted papers, three on security-related topics resulting from our PRESERVE research activities.

PRESERVE and Hitachi sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Hitachi and PRESERVE signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate until six months after the end of the PRESERVE project. Hence, Hitachi becomes our main partner for the future FOT and will provide us the communication stack.

To conclude the successful collaboration between Score@F and PRESERVE, PRESERVE presented its results of Joint FOT with Score@F at the Forum des Acteurs 2013.

Participation to the Dagstuhl Seminar "Inter-Vehicular Communication: Quo Vadis"

September 23-25, 2013 - PRESERVE participated to the Dagstuhl Seminar "Inter-Vehicular Communication: Quo Vadis". After the success of 2010 Dagstuhl Seminar, researchers of IVC community gathered to draw conclusions of the past 3 years work and discuss the future research directions in IVC. Of course, PRESERVE played a key role in advocating Security and Privacy of IVC.

PRESERVE and Score@F sign a Memorandum of Understanding

In July 2013, PRESERVE and Score@F ( signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that describes the ongoing cooperation for integrating the PRESERVE VSS within Score@F FOT. Tests are conducted since Fall 2012 and the results will be presented in the Deliverable D3.1 in Fall 2013.

Presentation at the Toyota InfoTechnology Center, U.S.A.

PRESERVE (Jonathan Petit, University of Twente) and TOYOTA ITC ( discussed the current challenges of V2X communications to make it a success. Some preliminary results of the PRESERVE project were presented. Then, Security, Privacy, Distributed Congestion Control and Physical layer security were the main topics of open discussion.

Presentation at The Center for Automotive Research at Stanford University

April 18/19th: Jonathan Petit (University of Twente) presented the PRESERVE project at the The Center for Automotive Research at Stanford University. After a discussion on Security&Privacy of V2X communication, challenges of automated vehicles were discussed. A second meeting with Sven Beiker, Bryant Walker Smith and Aleecia McDonald was held on April 18th and specially focused on privacy challenges.

Presentation at Palo Alto Research Center - Privacy Lunch

April 11th 2013 - During his stay at UC Berkeley, Jonathan Petit (UT) presented PRESERVE and some research results at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), privacy lunch.

This talk fostered discussions on Privacy & Security in ITS. Thank you PARC for hosting this presentation!

PRESERVE presented at Ecole Polytechnique Montreal and McGill University

February 28th 2013, PRESERVE was presented at Ecole Polytechnique Montreal. The Ecole Polytechnique Montreal is involved in the NSERC DIVA Network (, which targets the development and integration of communication systems, vehicular technologies, and applications for enabling nationwide deployment of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANets) and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Samuel Pierre (Ecole Polytechnique Montreal) and Jonathan Petit (University of Twente) discussed potential collaboration.
