15-16 January 2013, Heidelberg, Germany: An integration and validation meeting between DRIVE C2X and PRESERVE was organized by NEC Labs. DRIVE C2X and PRESERVE (VSS Kit 1) are successfully integrated on the NEC platform (Linkbird).

PRESERVE developed a questionnaire to gauge the perception of the broader ITS community on (i) security and privacy needs, and (ii) the PRESERVE architecture.

On the 15-16 November 2012, PRESERVE and the Harmonization Task Group 1&3 jointly organized the Internation ITS Harmonization Workshop in Darmstadt, Germany. Members of HTG1&3, Standardization Organizations (IEEE, ETSI, ISO/CEN), OEM (Renault, Mitsubishi Electric, etc.), US DOT, and PRESERVE members gathered to present the results of the HTG1 (Security) and HTG3 (Communication). Discussions and panels helped drawing the conclusions and the lessons learned.

PRESERVE shows a demo of secure V2X networking at the ITS World Congress 2012 in Vienna. The demo was implemented jointly together with the EVITA and Score@F projects. From 18.-20.7., Prof. Kargl gave a three day course on "Security and Privacy in Intelligent Transportation Systems" at the National ICT Australia Instituts in Sydney, Australia.

He shared recent results of the PRESERVE project and gave a general overview over current research and standardization efforts in Europe and the U.S..

PRESERVE participated to the DITCM test site event of DRIVE C2X (held on 5th July 2012) with posters and a booth that showed the VSS Kit 1.

The VSS Kit 1 of PRESERVE was presented during the General Assembly of DRIVE C2X, held on 4th July 2012 in Helmond (The Netherlands). DRIVE C2X and PRESERVE also had a technical workshop named "Making PRESERVE VSS compatible to DRIVE C2X Reference system". A highly technical discussion that helped making a step closer to the use of PRESERVE inside DRIVE C2X.

PRESERVE has recently had its year 1 review. We will soon put public deliverables and reports from this period online.

Panos Papadimitratos (KTH) was invited as Keynote speaker during the 3rd IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC) held in Amsterdam, 14-16 November 2011. He presented PRESERVE and the active role in securing vehicular networks.

PRESERVE poster has been presented by Escrypt at the EVITA booth at ESCAR 2011 fair in Dresden, Germany (9-10 November 2011). The characteristics of PRESERVE project and the exploitation of EVITA results for on-board security were presented.
